Did Calypso truly love Davy Jones? ›

With his death, Davy Jones was welcomed back into the dark embrace of the seas; for Calypso in her own way still loved him.

However, when Jones returned to shore after ten years, Calypso failed to appear. Believing Calypso had betrayed him, a heartbroken and enraged Davy Jones turned the Pirate Brethren against her, saying that if she were removed from the world, they would be able to claim the seas for themselves.

After being released from her human form, the goddess Calypso, enraged over Davy Jones's betrayal and the Brethren Court, used her powers to summon a maelstrom. Calypso's maelstrom consisted of an enormous whirlpool topped with a thunderstorm with strong wind, lightning and rain.

As the battle between the East India Trading Company and the pirates looms, Barbossa and Ragetti release Calypso from her human form. Before Calypso is fully freed, Will tells her that it was Davy Jones who betrayed her by revealing to the first Brethren Court how to bind her into her human form.

Davy Jones sold out Calypso and tricked her into assuming human form, only for his fellow pirate lords to trap her in her mortal body thus leading Tia Dalma to revive Jack Sparrow and Captain Barbossa as she needs both of them present to return to her goddess form.

Throughout the events of Dead Man's Chest and At World's End, it is revealed that she was once in love with Davy Jones, of whom she made a great sacrifice for, and he tricked the goddess into assuming human form and betraying his former lover to the Brethren Court.

One deity that Odysseus comes across on his journey is Calypso. Calypso falls in love with Odysseus the moment he lands on Ogygia.

Leo and Calypso may be one of the more out-of-left-field pairings in the Heroes of Olympus series, but we can't deny how cute they are together.
